Mimosa is a genus of about 400 species of herbs and shrubs in the subfamily called Mimosoideae of the legume family Fabaceae. There are two species of the mimosa called mimosa pudica and mimosa tenuiflora.

The members of this genus are among the few plants that are capable of rapid movement. The leaves of the Mimosa pudica close quickly when they are touched lightly.They open up in the daytime and close at night time. Mimosa Pudica are also known “as touch me” not in the colloquial term.These plants frow 1 feet to three feet tall in the wild and sometimes disturb plantations.
